Frequently asked questions

By working together with a counsellor, you will build a therapeutic relationship based on trust and understanding.  It is a unique relationship where the counsellor makes you feel safe, trusted, and heard. It is non-judgmental and non-opinionated, and you will be shown empathy and unique positive regard.  In person-centred counselling it is believed that you are the expert on your life, and the counsellor is there to help empower you to find your answers.

Yes, counselling is very different.  Although there are great benefits in speaking to a family member or friend, your close ones may often have their own views and opinions or have an emotional attachment to your situation and if portrayed onto you this can leave you feeling even more confused.  In the counselling room it is only about your thoughts, feelings and emotions and I will not give you any opinions or views, but help you to find your own answers.

Counselling is very confidential, however, there are breaches to confidentiality which will be explained to you in your first session.

I offer sessions which are face-to-face, online (Zoom), over the telephone or I am also able to offer walk-and-talk therapy.

Sessions must always be paid in full 24 hours before the appointment by either bank transfer, PayPal or in cash.

If you need to cancel a session, I would ask that you kindly give at least 24 hours’ notice.  Any sessions cancelled after this must be paid in full before a further session can be booked.

Each session will last for 50 minutes, and the number of sessions required will be guided by you.

Our sessions will take place at the same day and time each week.

Please be aware that if you arrive late to a session, the session will still end at the normal time.
